Video games and comics have seemed to intertwine ever since they both started existing at the same time - when video games first came on the scene. It may have something to do with the "nerd culture", where the same people who got into comic books were also "nerdy" enough to get into video games, but I think its really more than that. I think its all about story-telling.

Video games use visual story-telling to pull the player in and generate stakes for what the player is doing. The key here being visual, as just like in comics, the player can see everything that their favorite character is going through. However, unlike movies and television, there is still an artistic aspect to video games - not to say that acting and directing isn't an art; all I mean is that video games have art styles in the way that comics have art styles.

I feel like as video games evolved from pong on the Atari into Castlevania and beyond, that the natural link between gamers and comic readers solidified, due to the similarity of characters that show up in video games and in comics. Of course, we then get the two genres mixing - from Mario appearing in comics (which I would like there to be more of, by the way), to Spider-Man appearing in video games - the partnership between video games and comics is one that I hope never goes away.

Which video game character would you like to get a comic series? Which comic character would you like a video game for? Personally, give me a Star Fox comic and I'll pull that so fast.
