Omnibuses are awesome. And terrible. They're awesome because they collect great comic runs, often runs that aren't collected elsewhere. They're awesome because they're beautifully made. They're awesome because the price per issue is usually pretty favorable.

But man, they're hard to read.

I have heard of people using book stands, I've heard of people sitting at a table, but I just want to sit in a comfy chair without any extra accessories. Maybe I'm being too picky, but part of the comic reading experience is comfort, and while reading an omnibus, its significantly harder to get comfortable.

I own a few omnibuses. I have the Batman Adventures Omnibus, a Robin Bronze Age Omnibus, and a Darth Vader Omnibus. They're all lovely books with great stories. I also have the box set of Saga of the Swamp Thing. The benefits of the omnibus in that its collected together, but the benefit of easy reading in the form of six manageable trade paperbacks.

What do you think? Do the benefits of an omnibus outweigh the negatives?
